Walkthroughs
A video walkthrough that’s easy to follow
A walkthrough works when people can see each step and come back to it. ScreenRecordii zooms on every click, numbers the steps, and writes the same walkthrough out as a guide with screenshots.
In short
Record yourself going through the steps once. ScreenRecordii zooms on each click, can number every click with a step badge, adds captions from your voice and shows keyboard shortcuts. From the same recording it can write a step-by-step guide, with one marked-up screenshot per step, as Markdown, a web page or a PDF.

Video and written, from one recording
Numbered steps
Number every click in one go. Badges sit on the control you clicked, and follow the zoom.
Shortcuts shown
Keyboard shortcuts appear on screen as you press them. Ordinary typing can be left out.
Captions
Transcribed on your Mac and shown word by word, so the walkthrough works muted.
A written guide
One screenshot per step with the control circled and what you said beneath it, for people who would rather read.
Recording a good walkthrough
Start from a clean state
Close what you don’t need, sign in to a demo account, and set your window to the size viewers have.
Say what you’re about to do
“Now open Settings.” It becomes the caption and the text of that step in the guide.
Click deliberately
Each click becomes a zoom and a step. Pause briefly after each one.
Export both
The video for people who want to watch, the guide for people who want to skim.
Questions
What’s the difference between a walkthrough and a tutorial?
A walkthrough follows one path through a product, step by step. A tutorial usually teaches a skill and explains why. Both benefit from zooms and numbered steps.
Can it make the written guide without a video?
The guide is made from a recording, so you record once and get both.
Does it share a link?
No. It makes files on your Mac. Upload them wherever your viewers are.
